does execercise help to stop the anxiety?

Posted by admin on Mar 13, 2009

I am not very into sports.. but I would like to know if the excercise helps to stop the anxiety.. because I am taking efexor of 75mg but I dont feel better I have more than 6months,. just the same feelings.

Exercising won't hurt, that is for sure. Unless you are suffering from some heart condition, which you will have to consult your doctor before doing any form of exercise.

Exercising is a good way to relieve some stress, and to build a healthy heart which in turn helps with your emotional well-being. Consult your doctor though.

Good luck!

I have found that exercise definitely helps with my social anxiety. Not that I follow my own advice, but walking the dog, getting on the treadmill or going for a bike ride always seems to moderate my symptoms somewhat. My therapist recommended exercise as one of my treatments.

Whether or not it actually has any biological effects or it just makes you feel better because you know you are doing something good for yourself, I don't know. And, I don't think it particularly matters. :)

OBVIOUSLY…efexor isn't working for you !!! There are LOTS more drugs out there for anxiety. I take half mg. risperdal for anxiety, PTSD , and panic attacks. It helps A LOT and I 'm so glad I finally found it…after years of suffering while trying medicines that didn't work. I'm sure exercise helps..esp walking. Wish I would do it!!! Wanna give me a "push"?! (I have a treadmill I'll sell you !!) lol
